石堂輝秀 Ishidō, Teruhide. Real name was Kikuchi, Kiyokazu, lived 1900~1982. Succeeded by his son, Ishidō Hideo 石堂秀雄 (real name: )(1932-2006). The Ishidō forge has been in existence for nearly 400 years. The first generation to bear the name Ishidō was Koreichi (石堂是一) real name: Katō, Suketaro (加藤助太郎). He is considered to be the 8th generation smith (8代目) at the forge. His successor was Ishidō Shūichi (石堂秀一), who was then followed by Teruhide, Hideo, and now Ishidō Yoshinori (石堂良考). That makes 12 generations so far. It seem the current smith, Yoshinori, is concentrating on making small planes, knives, and kitchen knives, so when we are referring to woodworking planes we usually mean Ishidō, Teruhide's products.
