marunaka cnc timber frame joinery machine

in japan it's very common to see marunaka's superslicer, but i'm yet to come across one of these. i was meaning to post this in chris' posts about cnc machining a while back, but was too busy.

Oh yeah, there are quite a few companies in Japan making those, including Makita. They are essentially CNC giant routers configured for timber framing and cutting a limited number of joint patterns. I'm not sure if the programming can be customized.

yeah, most of the machines i've seen (can?) only cut a limited number of joints.
i'm not trying to move off topic (this is a german machine from krusi), but this one shows a lot of operational detail. multi axis sawblade, router, and the cutoffs fall directly into a chipper below. i think this one seems to have much broader possibilities for customized programming.
