Water stone sharpening stations?

I usually sharpen my tools on the kitchen countertop but it can become pretty messy so I'm looking for ideas for holders which sit above the sink instead. All ideas are welcome!

Maybe this YouTube video can give some visual ideas.

I have just used a board lying across the sink. I put a few narrow dado's in the board to direct water runoff into the sink. Nannie and Tojiro both manufacture stainless steel commercial versions. You can do a google search for "sharpening stone sink bridge".

Thanks! I've been googling all kinds of funny combinations of words but "sharpening stone sink bridge" seem to do the trick!

Perhaps we could put it on the list of potential projects for the study group?

Have you guys built bases for your natural stones?

The shiro suita I bought from an experienced carpenter, came with a very nicely made base. I believe the base is made of cedar. The curved bottom to shape the feet are really nice.

Lovely stone, and equally lovely base. I'm glad most of my stones have reasonably flat bottoms, but I'd like to make bases for them yet.

Thank you for posting that up!

I'm using a soft rubber pad currently, but it doesn't do a whole lot to prevent wobbling.
