It's always good, it seems, to find a reason to acquire another fine tool...

Hah, so very true. Truly grippy sliding dovetails have remained somewhat elusive to me, so I'm glad to finally get significantly closer.

Good morning! The Floating Credenza is now residing at New Hope Arts gallery in New Hope, PA but it is not quite completed in it's electronic form. This post details the process of building the base frame for the credenza. I was hesitant in building a baseframe but ultimately happy that I did so, upon seeing the gallery I quickly realized that installing a cabinet into a wall was quite impractical. I look forward to your comments.

That came out very nicely Brian - great work! And interesting to learn about the use of leather dye.

Thanks Chris!

Truth be told I was pretty amazed at how well it worked. I debated the typical process of ebonizing, but ultimately decided that making the tea and then literally using real tea to increase how dark it applies was a bit too daunting with a due date rapidly approaching.

Good morning! Today's post completes the Floating Credenza series. In this post I create a cabinet back, reinforced by dovetailed battens, to close the case and complete the build.

I hope that will check it out and I look forward to your comments.

Thanks Steve! Got a few interesting projects coming up. A live edge shelf, repairing a nakashima mirror, more shoji and another cabinet.
