On a long list of tools and apparatus to build, panel gauges have been something which I've made do without. I finally decided to dedicate a little time getting better setup, so a pair of panel gauges were the first build.
Made from ash, wenge and palm. One was for use with a knife, and the other for rough marking with a pencil.
Also a pair of thin marking knives from old jigsaw blades.

Re: Panel Gauges
Very nice! I'll be interested to see how those wenge wear strips hold up over time. Unlike ebony wear strips, they shouldn't make marks on lighter woods.

Re: Panel Gauges
Thank you guys.
I hadn't considered the marks left from ebony. I have a little ebony but it is difficult to process with my current tools, and also, the wenge was already the correct size.
I'll let you know how the wenge wears, I hope it fairs well.
