Outrageous price of the week

Wed May 06, 2015 2:26 pm

I happened to find myself on Christian Becksvoort's site today - see http://www.chbecksvoort.com/forwoodworkers.html -and noticed he has a set of chisels for sale:

He want's a mere $5875 for the 7-set, in other words $840/chisel.

Ha ha, but they have a custom made case thrown in for free at that price ;)

Apparently, no one else is capable of having custom chisels made to these specs. The document detailing their creation was destroyed. Upon their completion, these chisels emitted a light so bright the document could not resist the temptation to burn away leaving nothing but the radiating magnificence of the creation left behind.

A bargain at any price.

I wonder if he paid anything near that for the set?

Lol, one would hope not. The most Gucci'd out Tasai chisels on Iida's site are $300~ each retail, so that's more than double.

I am genuinely curious as to why they're so heavy looking, they look like a merge of dovetail chisels and mortise chisels.

Maybe he's charging $3000 for the box?

Well it is quite a nice box, having a locking pin and so forth.
