extreme sawhorse

Chris, here's my sawhorse:

Disclaimers:
To avoid having to hand-cut mortices and sliding dovetails when replacing the sacrificial top, I just screwed it to the top beam.
I used round pegs throughout, though I like the square pegs and will use them in my next sawhorse. ;)

I did the diagonal brace to post connection as in the original version, i.e. without a thru tenon and with a flat, parallel-to-floor bottom:

Here's the diagonal brace crossing under construction:

I did the post bottom and bottom brace connections per the original scheme, i.e. with double intersecting tenons. I lost a bit of wood inside the feet trying to get all those mortices in there, but once together it seems pretty solid. Unfortunately, I got so engrossed in the work I forgot to take pics. :(

Another fun, informative project. Thanks.
Looking forward to the next one.

Charlie,

clean job and well done on seeing it though! Glad you enjoyed the challenge. We'll see what I can come up with to stretch you on the next project. Or, maybe we'll do something less 'extreme'. :)
