Is the sashigane in combination with a sumisashi and sumitsubo only used in carpentry ?
Or can you use this combination also in smaller objects like furniture .
If not , what do you use for laying out smaller objects .

I've seen video of a sashimono-shi using the sashigane in furniture building, and I use one as well, they're handy.

There's a smaller sashigane, 10-sun/30cm on the long arm, which is more suitable for furniture work, however it's not as important a tool in the set as it is for a carpenter doing layout work.

A 0.5mm mechanical pencil is what I prefer to use.
