ebay plane

Do you have a Japanese plane, or chisel, or box, or brochure and you can't read the characters? Post a hi-res. pic of what you are looking to read and see if the mystery can be solved!

ebay plane

Hi Folks,

I wondered if anyone could tell me a little about this plane? Mr. Magoo. Purchased on ebay for $44.00, including shipping from Japan...

Looks to be lightly used. I ground the edge of the blade a little narrower because the body had a small crack on the top side - the blade was supper tight. I sharpened it up, trued the base and planed a few test boards, cedar an doug fir.

Wow! Even with my bungled tune up this plane leaves a smother finish than anything in my tool cabinet. My no. 4 Stanely Smoothing plane got the boot and now is in the ebay box!

Not much to say on this one. No smith's mark on it. The characters on the dai simply say 'registered' (trademark), the glasses mark, and then 'hon shikomi' (本仕込) which means 'genuinely/truly set up'.
