traditional wood windows

Sun Nov 22, 2015 5:52 pm

Here is a site I would like to share with anyone with an interest in making traditional wood windows:

https://awwm.wordpress.com/windows-for-a-work-space/

Good stuff here if you have an interest in old machinery -

So, I thought I would try my hand at window making... sorry, this is a random blast of picture, I am finding it hard to get them in the right order. The windows are a bit rough but will work well I think for the rustic cabin they will go into.

The lower sash will be fixed, the upper is hopper style, hinged on the bottom and opening in. 12 windows in all.

The tenons were cut with a table saw, the mortises with a plunge router.

Still need to glue up, trim the stiles and sand.

I am considering mortising the sill and transom bar straight into the timber frame - no jamb at all, just a stop tacked on the exterior side.
