Thanks Chris! When I get this setup I’ll give it a try on some nasty box store Doug fir and see how it cuts.

Re: Possible Mortiser Acquisition
Well, I was able to experience the service quality of SCM. Something failed in the electromechanical braking. Scm proposed sending a replacement motor. Took a few days to ship. But they overnighted a new motor, rather than shipping it on a boat.
I’ve been fairly PO’d to be dealing with this on a new machine but I can’t fault the quality of action on SCM’s part. Happy with that do far after so many nightmare stories about service centers.
I will probably investigate the old brake so that I have a worthwhile spare motor as well.
I have been working with one tech, he’s been very helpful and has assured that we will investigate all avenues to ensure the problem is repaired.

Re: Possible Mortiser Acquisition
They covered the cost which they told me was $2900. It’s warrantied until November.

Oh, I didn't realize you had got yourself a new machine. For some reason I thought you'd picked up a used one. Nice that they covered the motor. It helps that you machine is newer as the tech support people at SCM will have at least seen the machine before and have some familiarity.

Re: Possible Mortiser Acquisition
Oh! Yeah, I was completely confused. The topic being "Possible Mortiser Acquisition" I imagined you were referring to your mortiser, and not anything else (which, if I'd thought about it, is a Felder, not SCM, so calling SCM tech support should have twigged me to what you were talking about).

Re: Possible Mortiser Acquisition
Haha, sorry about that, the plot has thickened however, so I will start a new topic.
